A Super Bowl bash that's expected to dock along Manhattan's West Side will offer guests a one-of-a-kind stay for the big game. Time Warner Cable News Reporter Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.
Norwegian Cruise Line is chartering out its brand spanking new ship Norwegian Getaway to Anheuser-Busch so it can operate what amounts to a 145,000 ton advertisement for Bud Light, with extra points for the cruise line.
"Everybody loves the Super Bowl and it's a massive amount of marketing so getting peoples' eyes on Norwegian Cruise Line through that event, we thought it was a good opportunity and we are excited," says Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan.
The ship will be rebranded with Bud Light logos for guests who can come and go as the ship stays docked on the west side through Super Bowl Sunday. According to published reports, west side neighbors are expressing concerns over a boatload of 4,000 invited guests getting rowdy.
"This is their best customers. They have relationships, contest winners, corporate people.
They have a great protocol in the organization about their behavior," says Sheehan.
Norwegian Cruise Line can't disclose the price tag for the charter but Anheuser-Busch is paying big bucks to take possession during the big game.
"They have the right to do whatever they want. We chartered the ship the way they wanted," adds Sheehan.
Bud Light’s guests will be able to enjoy everything paying passengers will when the Getaway officially moves to Miami. That includes nearly 50 some-odd bars and restaurants plus exclusive entertainment on-and-off ship for the Getaway guests.
The nearby Intrepid is also being taken over by the beer brand.
But since the Getaway is not sailing, the casino will be closed. So, the only sure bet is on the Seahawks or the Broncos.
