Summer is getting ready to sing its swan song, so here are some ways to make the most of the last glorious days.
If you haven’t seen our fair city from the water, now might be a good time. Residents of the five boroughs get a 25 percent discount from four of Circle Line Sightseeing's harbor cruises ranging from one hour to two and a half, circumnavigating the entire island or just part with departures from morning through sunset. The discount is good through the end of the year.
Here’s a fun event you won't have to drag your kids to, taking place on the Hudson River Sunday August 31.
The Annual North river tugboat Race & Competition starts at 10 a.m, they call it by its original Dutch name. You can view the race from Pier 84 where it starts and ends or board the Circle Line spectator boat for $25 for adults and $12 for kids. Free events at the pier include a line toss competition and spinach eating contest.
After the dog days of August pass, head to Morey’s Piers on the Jersey shore for one last dog day afternoon on Sept. 7.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Raging Waters water park will welcome canines and their uprights to make a splash in the pools and fountains. Stationed around the park will be water bowls and free treats, as well as activities like a doggie swimsuit competition. Fido will even take home a souvenir tennis ball.
Admission is $10 each for both dogs and their owners. You must pre-register as the event is open to only 150 dogs.
The Blue Palms Resort is offering a pet friendly special from Sept. 5 to Sept. 9 starting at $81 a night for a minimum two night stay.
