Rainwalker’s adoptive family files notice of claim

  • Text size: + -

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Washington County's District Attorney is standing behind Greenwich Police this morning for the procedures they used in searching the house where missing teenager Jaliek Rainwalker and his adoptive family once lived. That's according to the Post Star.

Last week, Stephen Kerr and Jocelyn McDonald's lawyer filed a notice of claim against the village's police department, claiming his clients were illegally detained on February 7th. A notice of claim means both parties have up to a year to reach a settlement or go to court.

Chief George Bell says officers had every right to be on the property until the search warrant arrived and that the couple was free to leave whenever they wanted.

Police say Rainwalker was last seen by Kerr on November 1st of last year. Kerr has been named a person of interest.
