ALBANY, N.Y. -- The focus of this year's Military Retiree Appreciation Day was benefits for retired members of the military. The goal of the event is to help retired service men and women understand what benefits they are entitled to. The event was hosted by the Watervliet Arsenal.
Veterans who served a minimum of 20 years, got help with retirement pay problems, health insurance questions and other issues. If you fall under that category, but were not able to attend, the arsenal has you covered:
"We operate on Wednesdays and Thursdays Watervliet Arsenal Out of the Building 21, and we have direct access to these people if we have anything we can't solve,” said Ken Hunter, Watervliet Arsenal.
The Watervliet arsenal serves more than 6,500 retirees on a volunteer basis. Widowed spouses were also welcomed with their questions.
