EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. -- East Greenbush police have made a second arrest in connection with a bank robbery back in March.
The robbery happened on March 18 at the Key Bank in the Rensselaer County Plaza in East Greenbush.
Justin McGonigle, 26, of Cohoes was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree grand larceny and first-degree assault.
Jonathan Lawrence, 32, of Knox was charged in connection with the robbery in early April.
According to East Greenbush police, Lawrence entered the bank wearing a mask, climbed over the counter and assaulted the tellers, leaving a 30-year-old bank teller with a broken leg. After taking some money, he took off on a bicycle and then got into a pickup truck that was waiting for him nearby.
Police said McGonigle dropped Lawrence off before the robbery and picked him up afterward.
The pickup truck was captured on surveillance tape and the footage was released to the media. Police said they received many tips after the story was reported, and the vehicle was recovered two days later in the Town of Knox.
McGonigle will appear in court on May 7.
