ALBANY, N.Y. -- Three people were arrested following a traffic stop and foot chase along I-90 in Albany on Thursday night.
Troopers pulled over a vehicle on I-90 around 10:15 p.m. for vehicle and traffic violations. During the stop, it became apparent to the troopers that there were drugs in the vehicle.
State Police said one of the occupants, Hector Acevedo, 31, took off on foot and was pursued across I-90. When the trooper caught up with him, there was a brief struggle. The trooper used pepper spray, but there was no effect. The suspect was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
Acevedo, along with Lakya Perkins, 25, and Lonnie Smith, 30, were all arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and unlawful possession of marijuana. Acevedo was also charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
They were arraigned and sent to the Albany County Jail without bail.
