HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire in Hoosick Falls. The fire broke out on Johnson Hill Road Tuesday afternoon.
Crews say when they arrived, the whole house was completely involved. They also had to transport water from a pond because there were no fire hydrants in the area.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but they believe it started in a closet.
"The outside of the structure looks good. The inside has a lot of water damage and smoke damage and heat. I'm not sure if they can rebuild or not. It will be something we have to look into," said North Hoosick Fire Chief Alan Bornt.
The homeowners, who just recently retired, will be staying with family who live in Hoosick Falls.
