ALBANY, N.Y. -- Dozens of students rally outside the Federal Building in Downtown Albany this weekend, sending a message to congress not to take away funding for family planning services.
The House of Representatives passed a bill blocking Title 10 funding. Title 10 is the primary source of funding for Planned Parenthood.
Advocates for keeping the funding say it's not just about the pro life, pro choice debate, but about providing basic medical care to people who might not otherwise be able to get it.
“Three million people come through the doors of Planned Parenthood every year, and a lot of low income people especially used Planned Parenthood primarily for their reproductive health services, so it affects a lot of people across this country,” said Sara Musacchia, advocate.
Those in favor of ending Title 10 funding say the government could put that money to better use.
