NEW YORK (AP) - A new poll finds a tight race to succeed former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner in New York's 9th congressional district.

The Siena Poll released Wednesday shows Democrat David Weprin leading Republican Robert Turner by just 48-42 percent. The district, which covers parts of Brooklyn and Queens, has never elected a Republican.

Weiner resigned in June after a sexting scandal. The special election to replace him is scheduled for Sept. 13.

The poll of 501 likely voters was conducted Aug. 3-8 by telephone and had a sampling margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
