Siena College honors Yankee Derek Jeter at their 2012 graduation is your biggest story topping Capital Region headlines this week.

Derek Jeter won't be receiving his honorary degree from Siena College in Loudonville, he’ll be where you would normally find him , manning shortstop in his traditional pinstripes. His sister will accept the award on his behalf, and the ball player will also appear in a special pre-taped video message to students. UAlbany, HVCC, and Skidmore will be donning their caps and gowns next Saturday.

This week will be a busy one for area schools. as it's time for budget decisions. This will be the first time parents and taxpayers will vote on budgets subjected to the state's new property tax cap. According to the School Board Association website, over sixty percent of New York schools will be cutting teacher positions. Hudson Falls is expecting to eliminate 10 positions, while Saratoga hopes to pass their almost one hundred and ten million dollar budget. Keep it on YNN, where we will have all your results scrolling on the bottom of the screen Tuesday night once the polls are closed.

If you're taking a walk around the Hudson River this week, you may notice a runner covering a lot of ground. Todd Jennings is running 315 miles over 40 days to raise money for the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.

And don't forget to tune into Americas Next Top Model Wednesday to see if Scotia native Laura LaFrat is a winner. The show is down to their final 3 contestants. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
