DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Organizers behind an upcoming jazz festival are hoping the event brings music fans out in droves.
The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday that the 12th annual Jazz Festival will kick off next weekend.
The festival is being held on Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, the 19th at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie. Several musicians from New York City and other areas are expected to perform.
Organizers say the festival will hopefully attract lots of new people to the area, which will also help support local businesses.
"It's going to bring people up to the Hudson River Valley to enjoy the fine music and of course part take with our wonderful restaurants and go to many of our tourism sites. It just doesn't get any better. Fine music, jazz music, our American heritage, happening here in the Hudson River Valley. No need to go to New York, no need to go to Albany, you can come right here and enjoy it,” said Charles North, President and CEO of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
North says they are hoping for a record turnout.
