You've heard the phrase "working like a dog," but in this situation, it's working with a dog. YNN's Vince Gallagher explains.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- At Fingerpaint Marketing in Saratoga Springs, it looks like another typical office, which it is, but take a closer look and you'll find dogs

"I have my dogs here pretty regularly. As you can see, we have dog things around the office,” Stephanie Brown said.

"We've always been allowed to bring our dogs in as long as they're well-behaved, which I'm lucky Jaxson is,” said Erica Dingeman.

Whether it's chasing a ball or just sharing some quality time with others, Jaxson and Charlie are a welcome addition to this team, which, by the way, is consistent with a recent study. According to the latest research from the Virginia Commonwealth University, bringing your dogs to work can lower stress and increase employee satisfaction.

Dingeman said, "Sometimes there will be a little bit of a hectic conversation going on and the dogs will run and it kind of relieves a little bit of the tension."

Other studies have also shown positive results with people and pets. For example, when visiting hospitals and nursing homes, animals have had a beneficial effect on patient recovery. So, it makes sense that this canine companionship works here as well.

"Your dog is your best friend, so having them with you all day through the most stressful parts of your day is always helpful and beneficial to your wellbeing,” Dingeman said

Brown said, "What pets do is they bring an element of humanity into the place is indescribable and really valuable to a lot of us who love those dogs."

While many businesses have their own pet policies, other major companies, such as Amazon and Google, are also starting to lean towards this work buddy trend.

"It's a unique perk for an organization,” Brown said. “It's a unique perk for an employee to be able to bring your pups to work and I think it creates a different work environment."
