ALBANY, N.Y. -- People in Albany were given an opportunity to meet with Albany's police chief and talk about safety in their community.

The meeting was coordinated by the Albany Community Police Advisory Committee, specifically for members of the West Albany Community.

ACPAC is a group that acts as a mediator between the people of Albany and the police department. They're working to improve the relationship between the community and officers on the street.

ACPAC Chair Beverly Padgtt)) said, “We're getting to the trust. And that takes a while. For community members to come out and see that the police officers are there. To get to know them by name and see what else they're doing. And just to say hello and it makes a big difference.”

At this meeting, the police department also presented a new initiative that posts a slide show to their website each month. Every month, residents see a breakdown of crime in the city listed by the type of crime and where it occurred.
