ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Ulster County residents whose homes were damaged during Superstorm Sandy can now reach out for help in person.

FEMA community relations specialists have been in Ulster County since Friday, hoping to make storm victims aware of the help available to them.

FEMA aid registration centers have also been set up in Kingston and Saugerties.

Organizers say the entire process is made easier through these centers.

“We come and we sit face to face with applicants and we help them through the application process. If they have questions we can answer those face to face, it's generally much easier for people to sit and talk to somebody face to face than it is over the phone. And that's why we provide this service for applicants,” said Sandy Ramsey, Disaster Recovery Center Manager.

The centers will be open through Monday. They're located at the Saugerties Senior Citizen's Center and the Kingston City Hall.

People can still file for help by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by visiting ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
