NEW YORK STATE -- Senator elect Terry Gipson says he is ready to get to work and first on his agenda is reforming the allocation of state funds to schools.

Gipson says he's also interested in moving campaign finance reform forward.

Veteran lawmaker Steve Saland recently conceded in the race for the 41st State Senate district. After a final count, ballots confirmed Terry Gipson as the unofficial winner of the race.

"Our finance laws right now are too vague, too wide open. They need to be much more regulated. I'm interested in doing what we can, but something is better than nothing at this point," Gipson said.

Gipson says there are no hard feelings towards Governor Andrew Cuomo for endorsing Steve Saland. He says he is looking forward to working with the governor. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
