The snowstorm has had a positive effect on some local businesses. Our Karen Tararache discovered that as the inches of snow increase, so, too, do the number of sales at the slopes.

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- "It's a blue bird day here at Ski West Mountain," Director of Sales and Marketing Sue Parker said.

It's a term used to describe perfect ski conditions.

Ski instructor James Woods added, "I mean, once the snow hits, we've had bad seasons, and it’s amazing everyone out here, especially today the suns out!"

So when you add together clear blue skies and seven inches of fresh snow, Parker stated, "It's absolutely huge. I can't even begin to tell you the impact it's had on us tourism wise as well as the economic dollars."

The snowstorm didn't stop anyone from coming out and having a good time. If anything, the mountain saw more people as a result of it.

"We've been here each day on Friday, Saturday and today and really enjoying the good conditions after the snowfall," said Queensbury resident Nicole Stehle.

By saving money on electricity and the amount of water it takes to produce man-made snow, the snowstorm caused sales to increase by 60 percent over the weekend.

When asked about the snow, Parker beamed, "This coming at the time it did was kind of like the perfect frosting, the icing on the cake!" ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
