ALBANY, N.Y. -- People in Albany met to talk about what the future may hold for St. Joseph's Church.

Earlier this month, the Albany Common Council voted down a plan to turn the vacant church into a brewery.

During this brainstorming session at the Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church, residents weighed in on what they'd like to see done to the building. They say they want to do whatever they can to help it be re-used, since it is so important to their neighborhood.

"There's millions of dollars worth of renovations that need to be done and not that our neighborhood could do that, although I’m not going to sell us short, but the more money that gets put into the church, the more likely the church will find an end use," Albany resident Jessica Klami said.

There's another community meeting on St. Joe's scheduled for next month.
