A nine-year-old boy is the latest victim of a deadly weekend crash in Montgomery County, according to his family. Maria Valvanis has more.

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- A nine-year-old boy is the latest victim of a deadly weekend crash in Montgomery County, according to his family.

The County Sheriff says David Bain, 68, was driving his minivan erratically on Route 67 in Amsterdam before crossing over the line and crashing into a vehicle driven by Tanya Sleight, 33.

Sleight, along with her girlfriend, Shyara Concepcion, 38, were both killed at the scene.

Sleight's three children, two-year-old Naomi, seven-year-old Matthew and nine-year-old Elijah, were sitting in the back seat. Naomi and Elijah were flown to Albany Medical Center.

Family members tell us Elijah died Monday.

As for the driver, deputies say he remains in the hospital and the extent of his injuries are unknown.

No charges have been filed yet, but the Sheriff’s department is investigating the matter and Bain is cooperating.

"We took blood from the driver of the van and at this time, we don't have any suspicion of alcohol being involved, so were looking into other issues that he might have had," said Montgomery County Sheriff Michael Amato.

"Right now, we just want to get through having to deal with what we have to deal with. I think somebody will get justice somehow," said Elisabeth Pratt, the victim’s cousin.

Officials are looking into substances other than alcohol Bain could have been under the influence of causing the accident, as well as the possibility of some type of medical problem.
