CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- School safety has been on many people's minds lately and the Saratoga County Sheriff's office wants to make sure that they are prepared in case of an emergency.
As a result, they conducted SWAT team training on the Shenendehowa campus. For over two years, they have been working with local school districts to become familiar with the layout of each school. They plan on conducting these drills at all of the school districts throughout the county.
"You never know, with everything that's happening around the world today, whether it's going to happen in our area, so we're training to be on top of things so if something does come up, we'll be able to handle it and maybe we won't be making mistakes when the real thing goes down. We hope and pray it doesn't happen, but we're training for it," Saratoga County Sheriff James Bowen said.
They plan on having other drills at South Glens Falls and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School districts over the next few days.
