Arrest made in Saratoga Springs machete attack

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Saratoga Springs police have arrested the man who they say attacked another man with a machete.

Police say Russell Duffney, 46, and the victim got into an argument Tuesday night while at a barbecue at a house on Grand Avenue. Police say Duffney swung a three-foot-long machete at the victim's head, cutting off part of his ear and slashing the side of his face.

The victim was taken to Saratoga Hospital and underwent surgery. He is in serious condition.

Duffney was arrested and is being charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say he was taken to the hospital for chest pains and will be arraigned when he is released.
