BALLSTON, N.Y. -- A Saratoga Springs man was arrested after a burglary involving a baseball bat.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a residence in the Town of Ballston reporting that a man entered the home with a baseball bat and implied he had a gun. According to the sheriff's office, the man smashed windows and doors, as well as other items in the home.
One of the homeowners was hit with the bat and suffered a minor injury.
Everyone in the home managed to escape and hid until deputies arrived.
Before police arrived, the suspect took off in a vehicle which was found a short time later crashed on East Side Drive. The suspect - identified as Derek Rhodes, 32, of Saratoga Springs - was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, DWI, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Rhodes was arraigned in the Village of Ballston Court.
