SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Saratoga Springs Police Chief Christopher Cole has announced that he will retire after 23 years with the department.

Cole has not set a specific date for his retirement, although it's expected to take effect towards the end of May.

Cole began with the department as a part-time dispatcher back in 1989 and became a full-time police officer in August of 1990. He's been the chief since December of 2009.

The chief released a statement which reads in part, "I want to thank the members of the public for supporting our department and just as importantly, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the members of the department - young and old, active and retired -who have supported, mentored and advised me through the years. It has been an honor and privilege to work with each one of you.” ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
