TROY, N.Y. -- A place for local entrepreneurs opened its doors in Troy. Tech Valley Center of Gravity will allow artists and scientists to share their ideas and also learn from each other.

The workshop features metal and wood working machinery, racks of tools and parts, laser cutting and 3D printing.

The founder says schools and colleges in the Capital Region are good at attracting and educating talented students, but it was about keeping people in the area after they graduate.

"We often talk about jobs and aspects of growth. But I have come to firmly believe that in and of itself, retaining your professionals in the regions is an economic objective. Many things will spin out from that," said Laban Goblentz, Tech Valley Center of Gravity founder.

The center is located at the corner of 4th and Fulton in what was formerly an OTB space.
