FULTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Fulton County Sheriff says the two bodies discovered in the Great Sacandaga Lake Tuesday morning are that of a father and son.

The pair, identified as Mark Richards, 51, and his son, Brent, 24, had been missing since Saturday, May 18th. The Sheriff says the two men parked their car off of Lakeview Road in the Town of Broadalbin and launched their boat from there.

Deputies have not located their boat at this time, but explain what they think might have happened.

"I suspect the craft they were in was too small for the weight they had in there. And they may have tipped over and may not have been able to swim because of the cold water," said Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey.

The Sheriff says they haven't found any life jackets in their search. He says they'll release more details on a cause of death once autopsies are completed.
