SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Saratoga Springs City Council is voting on a land swap plan that could eventually pave the way for a third firehouse.

Under the proposal, the Algonquin Building LLC would purchase the Collamer lot at 500 Broadway for $775,000. The developer has plans to construct a mix use building. Algonquin would then sell a portion of the lot to the city for $200,000.

City officials say they'd use the revenue from the Collamer parking lot sale to cover that cost.

While no formal proposals have been brought forward, officials have suggested building a third fire and EMS facility on the city's eastern side where average response times are double the rest of the city.
