GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Two men are facing charges after Green Island Police say they found a number of guns in their car during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Police say they pulled over a car they saw speeding over the Green Island Bridge at around 10:30 p.m.

Officers say three of the four people in the car ran away. But the driver, Rayquan Murphy, 18, of Cohoes, stayed in the car and was immediately arrested.

Several guns were allegedly found in the car with him. Aquell Tarver, 20, of Troy was caught a short time later.

"With the assistance of Troy Police, who were also investigating a shots fired complaint around the time the vehicle was pulled over, Troy Police assisted in grabbing one of the subjects who was hiding in a culvert here in Green Island," said Sergeant Matthew Montanino, Green Island Police Department.

Both men are charged with criminal possession of a weapon, among other charges. They're due back in court on Tuesday. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
