SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- This past summer was a record breaking season for tourism in Saratoga Springs.
According to the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce and other city and county officials, Saratoga County hotels saw a 3.5 percent increase in occupancy, while the Spa City itself had a more than four percent increase.
The chamber looked at the period from the beginning of June until the end of August.
The chamber president said this year was the perfect storm of area attractions to choose from, including the race course, concerts at SPAC and new attractions in downtown. But officials also point to the historic nature of this past summer as a revenue booster.
"And then we have the Saratoga 150, which gave everyone an incentive to come and be a part of an incredible once in a lifetime community celebration," said Todd Shimkus, Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce President.
Attendance at the Saratoga Race Course actually dropped slightly this summer.
