TROY, N.Y. -- The U.S. Marine Corps is partnering with the City of Troy and the Troy Fire Department to help bring toys to kids in need this holiday season.
Fire departments throughout the city will have collection boxes for the Toys for Tots program. Organizers say it creates a safe haven for toy drops.
"If they didn't know where to go in the city to donate a new, unwrapped toy for a child this Christmas, they can feel comfortable, confident and safe when they come here to any of the Troy fire houses, like this one here at Station Four. Give the firemen a toy that they know that toy will get to a child within your own community," said Patrick Lurenz, U.S. Marine Corps Assistant Coordinator for Toys for Tots.
Collection boxes for toys will be located at six firehouses in the city.
