LATHAM, N.Y. -- Students from Shaker and Shenendehowa High Schools came together to remember Shenendehowa students Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers for "Remembrance Day."

More than 700 students from Shaker High School wore green shirts to show their support for Shen.

Tuesday marks just over a year since the students were killed in crash on the Northway. This was a day organized completely by students who say they wanted to bring back a sense of community between the two schools.

"Seeing everybody in green today just kind of brings it all together and knowing that there still is a lot of support between the two communities and whether it's the tragedy or it's some other reason, it's a great teachable moment for kids and for us to work through a process of how to organize and get support for these types of issues," said Jan Zadoorian.

Shaker student Bailey Wind and Matt Hardy, a student at Shenendehowa, were injured in the crash.

Students at Shen also participated in "Remembrance Day" by wearing blue. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
