BETHLEHEM, N.Y. -- Two people arrested for animal neglect appeared in Town of Bethlehem Court.

William Trianni, 25, and Karen Burrows, 49, plead not guilty to counts of failure to provide sustenance.

Bethlehem Police raided their Walden Farms and Stone-Brooke stables last month. Officers say they found sick horses with no water and not enough food. Eight ponies were treated for intestinal problems and malnourishment.

Karen Burrows attorney says the horses were not neglected and should be returned.

"Clearly if these animals health or safety were in danger, all of them would have been taken. They would not have left one there," said David Gonzalez, the attorney for Burrows.

You can see the couple's supporters shoving the media out of the way when leaving court.

Trianni and Brown are due back in court in January.
