South Africa is preparing for Nelson Mandela's memorial service on Tuesday. Sunday was a day of prayer and reflection. YNN's Dean Meminger has the latest from South Africa.
SOUTH AFRICA -- A day of remembrance was held at the Nelson Mandela Foundation Center of Memory. Family, friends, and a fellow prison mate all attended the ceremony in Johannesburg.
Those who attended said his contributions will never be forgotten.
The foundation and museum chronicles the difficult journey traveled by Mandela. It served as the perfect location for people to mourn the loss of their first elected black president, who broke the back of Apartheid.
Just a few blocks from the foundation, thousands of people continued to gather in front of Nelson Mandela's Home in the neighborhood of Houghton Estates.
Many people sang and danced as a salute to the man they call Madiba, Mandela's tribal name.
