A Glenville man is facing charges after he allegedly wrote a note with a threat that explosives had been placed at GlobalFoundries. Maria Valvanis has more.
MALTA, N.Y. -- Nearly 3,000 construction workers were sent home Monday and one of them to jail after a false threat had police and K-9 teams searching the Fab 8 Construction site for most of the day.
Police say Robert Thomas, 25, of Glenville, was arrested for allegedly leaving a note in a common area at GlobalFoundries claiming explosives had been placed in the facility.
GlobalFoundries officials tell us the threat was particularly directed towards the construction portion of the Fab 8 site, where, on average, 3,000 construction workers are each day. Those workers were all sent home when the threat was discovered early Monday morning.
An investigation into the threat led police to Thomas, who works as an electrician's apprentice, on the site.
Police say there was never any real threat to the public at any time or any property damage. Thomas was arraigned and sent to the Saratoga County Jail.
