ALBANY, N.Y. -- The University at Albany announced its newest head football coach on Monday.

Greg Gattuso will take over coaching duties for the Great Danes. He is the former head coach at Duquesne University, and served as assistant head coach at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Maryland.

Gattuso will replace Bob Ford this fall. He has agreed to a five year contract with the Danes. Gattuso has won several awards, including a two-time winner of the Mid Major IAA Coach of the Year, and a seven-time winner of the MAAC Coach of the Year.

UAlbany plans to officially introduce Gattuso on Tuesday at the SEFCU Arena.
