It's the season of giving, and a great way to give is donating to Stewart's Holiday Match. But as YNN's Megan Cruz reports, there's less time to contribute to the annual collection.
STATEWIDE -- With the holiday season in full swing, donations are up for Stewart's Shops Holiday Match.
Donations have increase 31 percent from last year. Currently, more than $262,000 has been raised. The program accepts donation for local charities. Stewart's matches every dollar donated.
According to Stewart's officials, they want to keep the momentum going during the shortened holiday season.
"We've started off so strong this year, we're up 31 percent since last year and I don't want that to discourage anyone that we don't need them to give, because we are in a shortened time," said Maria D'Amelia, Stewart's Shops Spokesperson. "Our collection is from Thanksgiving to Christmas day so we are stuck here with six less days to collect this money. We really just encourage customers to give what they can, whether it's a penny, whether it's a quarter, whether it's a dollar, we will match it. So it's really just the easiest way to double your gift back to the community."
Since 1986 the Holiday Match Program has raised more than $17 million. Donations will be collected through Christmas day.
