A Shenendehowa High School student is arrested after State Police say he actually administered heroin to another student, on school grounds. YNN's Innae Park has the latest.
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- New York State police have arrested a Shenendehowa High School student they said injected heroin into another student on school grounds.
The district's superintendent addressed the incident at a press conference on Friday afternoon. According to police, Daniel Lewis, 17, injected a 15-year-old student with heroin on Wednesday.
Lewis faces several charges, including criminal injection of a narcotic drug, and endangering the welfare of a child. Although this is the school's first reported case of heroin use, the superintendent is encouraging parents to address the incident with their kids.
"This issue is alarming to us as a school. This issue is the first reported case of heroin use by a student here at Shenendehowa. It is my understanding that unfortunately in the region, there have been other cases of people using heroin. So clearly it is alarming," said Dr. Oliver Robinson, Shenendehowa Superintendent.
Lewis has been arraigned, and was sent to Saratoga County Jail. He is due back in court on December 19.
