LATHAM, N.Y. -- The New York National Guard celebrates its 377th birthday.
Soldiers and civilians came together to celebrate at the Latham headquarters.
And there was of course a traditional military cake-cutting ceremony.
"It pulls our team together and speaks well for everybody that has done some great work this past year," said Major. Pat Murphy, Adjutant General New York National Guard.
Some of the state's newest Army National Guard members were also sworn in at the ceremony.
The guard is the oldest of the country's military services.
