NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- In the wake of the deadly derailment in the Bronx earlier this month, Metro-North is going under the federal microscope.

Starting Monday, the Federal Railroad Administration will perform a 60-day review of safety practices on Metro-North.

The effort will cover a broad range of practices, including oversight of engineers, fatigue management and medical requirements for crew members.

The railroad has already implemented a number of new safety measures since the derailment, which killed four people and injured dozens more.

Officials said the crash happened after the train's engineer zoned-out at the controls as the train approached a curve at 82 miles per hour. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
