ALBANY, N.Y. -- A landmark will soon see its annual electric bill be reduced.
Thanks to an energy efficiency program with National Grid, the utility company is providing the Palace Theatre in Albany with a $70,000 grant to help offset improvement costs.
The funding will help upgrade internal and external lighting. According to leaders, the more efficient bulbs will help save more than $31,000 per year.
"Given that there are more than 2,500 fixtures on the inside of the facility, including public, stage and backstage areas, and more than 5,800 fixtures in the marquee, the Palace Theatre had a sizeable electric bill, which has now been cut by about 30 percent," said Laurie Poltyinski, National Grid Commercial Leader.
In addition to the grant, National Grid is also providing a $5,000 grant in support of the Palace Theatre’s Arts in Education Program.
