MASSACHUSETTS -- Governor Deval Patrick decided to keep state offices closed for Friday.
In addition, he is encouraging private employers to keep workers at home. The Governor has called in additional State Police and members of the National Guard to help with the cleanup from the winter storm.
Some communities across Massachusetts have received more than one foot of snow. However, Patrick is warning against the bitter cold on top of the snow.
"That's a serious hazard not just for ice conditions, but for the impact on human beings. We want people to be mindful of that and exercise extreme caution," said Governor Patrick.
Blizzard warnings have been issued for coastal areas in Massachusetts. Some neighborhoods have asked for voluntary evacuations ahead of high tides.
