ALBANY, N.Y. -- While we are used to the heavy snow around here people in the south are not.

States from New Jersey to Georgia have been getting inundated with snow.

It is so bad that Phillips Hardware here in Albany is actually selling its salt and sand by the truckload, to states down south.

Company president John Phillips says it is the first time in the store's history that he has sold products this way.

"There's such a shortage in the mines and distributors that they're coming all the way up here just to find any retailers that have product. So we've probably moved 35, 40 pallets, which is a lot for us," said John Phillips, Phillips Hardware.

Phillips says, not to worry he is still saving plenty of salt and sand for around here, in case we get hit with another big storm.
