To kick off National Nutrition Month, local officials were challenged to a taste test to see how well they know their foods.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy, along with Village of Colonie Mayor Frank Leak and Colonie Town Supervisor Paula Mahan tasted different types of foods at ShopRite Tuesday to show healthy foods can also taste good.

"Through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, their message is encouraging everybody to try to eat more nutrient dense foods with lower calories, that way they can enjoy all the foods that they desire but not as many calories, fat, and sodium that's not necessary," said Amy Imler, a dietician at ShopRite.

Mahan was the winner of the contest.

She received the Golden Plate Certificate for guessing the most foods correctly.
