It's a case police in Troy are calling "gut wrenching." Officers are looking for a 25 year old they say used children, six years old, and even younger, for child pornography. Time Warner Cable News Reporter Karen Tararache has more on the case, on how police say there may be other victims out there.
TROY, N.Y. -- The suspect is being described as a predator and a monster and law enforcement is asking everyone pay close attention to what he looks like so he can be brought to justice as soon as possible.
Captain John Cooney of the Troy Police Department explained, "When you've got a predator like Jesse Sawyer Junior out there you need to do everything you can sooner rather than later."
That includes making sure everyone takes a good look at the face in the mug shot. Twenty-five year old, Troy resident Jesse Sawyer Junior is wanted by the Troy Police Department and the FBI.
"When you find evidence, as a rule, you're normally thrilled to see it and examine it and in this case it's gut wrenching," Cooney said.
Sawyer's last known address is 131 Sherman Avenue in Troy, though police say he may also have ties to the Lansingburgh area.
Cooney added, "Someone who knows Mr. Sawyer found digital evidence and took it upon themselves to bring it to our attention."
Evidence in the form of digital photos suggesting three young girls; one six-year-old and two under the age of five, were being sexually abused.
Cooney explained, "This was an acquaintance violation, this wasn't the stranger in the alley coming forward and grabbing the child. It was someone the child most likely trusted."
That's why Psychologist Dr. Rudy Nydegger says it's extremely important to communicate to your children what a good touch versus a bad touch is.
"There could be situations of threat but there also could be situations where the person in question- even if the kids feel uncomfortable with what they're doing- the person has been very nice to them," Nydegger said.
With the possibility that there are more victims out there, the doctor adds that parents pay extra attention to the warning signs.
"If you see the child's behavior changing noticeably over a few weeks or so, that doesn't necessarily mean they are being abused but something significant is going in the child's life that requires further questioning."
Sawyer is 5'8", 160 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Cooney said, "Our victims are receiving services and hopefully they will get all the help they need but right now it's all about getting this monster off the streets."
Troy PD adds that Jesse Sawyer Jr. was subject to considerable sexual abuse as a child and possibly even in adulthood both in and around his surroundings. They are urging anyone with information of his whereabouts to call (518) 270-4411.
