ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Troy man accused of making child pornography with appeared in federal court Friday afternoon.

Jesse Sawyer Jr. is accused of making pornography with at least three girls under the age of 6. In a quick, 10-minute federal court appearance, Sawyer waived his right to a pre-trial hearing, and will not be allowed out on bail.

Cameras were not allowed in the courtroom, but Sawyer appeared emotionless as he answered questions from a judge.

According to investigators, Sawyer took pictures of himself engaging in sexual activity with the children and saved the pictures on a laptop he borrowed from his father's girlfriend. She found the images in January, and turned them over to police.

Sawyer fled to Florida where he was taken into custody earlier this month by Pinellas Park police. However they released him shortly after because they had not received his warrant quickly enough.

After receiving the warrant, officers returned to arrest Sawyer, but he was already gone. A search ensued, and he was eventually taken into custody.

If convicted, Sawyer could face 15 to 30 years in prison.

A date for him to return to court has not yet been scheduled.
