SCOTIA, N.Y. -- The Republican candidate for governor, Rob Astorino, was in the Capital Region on Friday morning.
The Westchester County Executive headlined Jim Tedisco's annual breakfast fundraiser in Scotia. It was one of his first public appearances since being officially nominated as the Republican challenger to Governor Cuomo this fall.
Astorino said he has visited 45 counties over the past two months in an effort to campaign ahead of his nomination. He said he wants to make a trip to all 62 counties.
Local lawmakers and candidates were at the breakfast, and officially endorsed Astorino. They believe he has what it takes to win in November.
"This guy's a dynamo, he's serious about getting elected. And I think when the dust settles, we're going to have a championship governor in Rob Astorino," said Tedisco.
"You know, we've got a governor that's unwilling to make any tough decisions to turn this state around. So, we did it in Westchester, we can do it throughout the state," said Astorino.
Astorino will also be visiting Utica, Syracuse and Rochester on Friday.
