SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- Saratoga's big day is coming up on Saturday with the 145th running of the Travers Stakes.
Tonalist, Wicked Strong, and Commanding Curve are just some of the horses that ran the Belmont Stakes, and are making an appearance in the Mid-Summer Derby.
The draw, which has typically been held on the Wednesday before the stakes was held on Tuesday night, at Druthers in Saratoga.
Trainers and jockeys were anxious waiting to see what lucky spots they would get drawn in. This year, the purse for the Travers was doubled to $1.25 million.
"He's showing a lot of energy in the mornings, and hasn't taken a step back from his win. He pretty much just keeps going forward. All systems are go right now," said Rajiv Maragh, Wicked Strong's jockey.
"We're hoping theres enough of a pace in the race to set it up for us," said Linda Rice, Kid Cruz's Trainer
Time Warner Cable News is also airing the special "Travers: The Tradition" program on Friday at 9 p.m. It will air again on Saturday at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 5:30 p.m.
There will also be live coverage from the race course all day Saturday leading up to the race.
