Police say a Spa in Dutchess County offered more than massages to its customers. As YNN's Michael Howard reports, two women have been charged with prostitution.
LAGRANGE, N.Y. -- Jag Hair Salon employee Carmella Runza said the business next door has always been suspicious.
“Guys would circle the parking lot, then park and walk in” Runza says.
According to police, the Sunday Spa, located on Manchester Road, offered much more than your typical spa services.
“Our investigation revealed there was illegal activity going on inside the business,” says John Waterson, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department.
A five month investigation determined the spa was a cover for prostitution.
Runza says the Sunday Spa was open for about eight months until police raided the business on Wednesday. Two women who were no U.S. citizens have been arrested.
Runza said she saw it all unfold inside the hair salon. She witnessed one of the women being walked out in handcuffs.
“We have the diner next door, and then the business that I work at, and it’s just not right,” said Runza.
The two women, both in their fifties, are from New York City. They were charged with prostitution and practicing a profession while unlicensed. Both women were later released on $10,000 bond.
They are scheduled to be back in court on November 19.
