Another one of the four victims the Metro-North train derailment is a women from Newburgh. YNN's Meredith Zaritheny joined us from Newburgh with more.
NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- The United Methodist Church in Newburgh was where Donna Smith, 54, was an active member of the congregation. Smith is one of four people who died in the Metro-North train derailment Sunday morning.
"She was a nice woman. Always had a smile on her face," said Ricci Parisi.
For Parisi, the news that her childhood Girl Scout troop leader, Donna Smith, was one of four people killed in Sunday's Metro-North train derailment came as a shock.
Parisi said, "You know, you never expect anything like this to happen to anybody, but like especially her. You know, just to be taken that quickly."
Friends remember the Newburgh native as friendly, hardworking and a big Renegades baseball fan, spending most of her free time with her sister, frequently eating at Not Just Salads in New Windsor.
"So it's going to be weird to see her without her sister," Parisi said.
Family members were too upset to over of tragic loss to speak with us., although, a spokesperson for the family made a statement on their behalf.
Parisi said, "She was just so nice and it's just so horrible you know like especially this time of year."
