State Police release name of victim in fiery crash

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police have released the name of the victim in a fiery crash on the thruway Monday.

Troopers say Timothy Neild, 33, is listed in critical condition after crashing his pick up while traveling westbound on Interstate 90.

Neild's truck hit a median and a bridge abutment causing it to burst into flames.

This photo from the Thruway Authority Website shows the fire just after it happened.

According to former County Legislator Tom Buckel's Facebook page, he and Syracuse Lawyer Kevin Harrigan, along with three others, helped pull Neild from the burning truck.

Buckel says the vehicle exploded shortly after.

And in a coincidence, one of the men who helped with the rescue was a tractor-trailer driver, who actually recognized Neild as his captain in the New York Army National Guard.

We'll have more on the crash coming up later tonight, as we hear from Kevin Harrigan.
