WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. -- A woman was killed in a stabbing in Lake Luzerne on Tuesday and the man police say attacked her is now in custody. It happened around 5 p.m. in an apartment on Lake Avenue.
Patricia Burns, 42, was killed. Her estranged ex-husband, Clifford Burns, was taken into custody after a brief chase that ended in the parking lot of the Warren County Sheriff's office.
Burns' 22-year-old daughter was also injured in the attack when she tried to stop it. Hher injuries are not considered life-threatening.
"It's domestic. I think there's been some family problems for the last couple years, so I think it's been intensifying for a while, that's what it appears. Again, we're so early into the investigation, I don't have all of that information. I apologize, I give you what I got. But it is a domestic," said Warren County Sheriff Bud York.
Clifford Burns has been charged with second degree murder and is now in jail without bail. Police say more charges are likely.
