ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was women only on the roads around the Woodstock area for the annual Woodstock Cycling Grand Prix.
The women's only bicycling event, now in its second year, was expanded this year from two races to three. The event raises money for HOPE's Fund, an Ulster County women's mentoring organization.
Mostly amateurs participate in the races, but this year two pro teams entered. Organizers said this is the only just for women cycling event in the entire country.
“It says a lot for women's cycling that such a thing can exist for women only, and I think that it just gives us a chance to have a day that's about women in the sport,” said Brooklyn bicyclist Emily Spence.
About 100 racers participated this year.
